#18 : The Bibliophilic Optimist

Or have they? What I’d do to get my hands on that perfume! πŸ™‚ πŸ˜‰

I just love that smell! And I know you do too. Sometimes, at the bookstore I guess I just freak people put when I start smelling books endlessly instead of reading them πŸ˜‰ hahahahaha *evil laugh*

Ever had any funny experiences like that? πŸ™‚

  1. Not in bookstores, but I do check all 12 eggs before I buy a carton. Checking consists of slightly moving each egg in turn. If one is cracked, then it will have leaked and “glued” itself to the carton i.e. it will not move. Every now and then, I’ll be checking the eggs and somebody’s curiosity gets the better of them – “Excuse me, may I ask what you are doing?” I always give the same answer “Sure! I’m counting them to make there’s 12 here!” They look at the 2 rows of 6 eggs ….. look at me …….. mumble something and move away. πŸ™‚

      1. In your case, make a big display of smelling a book until someone is clearly distracted by you, and then say something like “Hi! I can smell a good mystery book. Can you?” πŸ™‚

      2. Hahahahaha! Great idea! πŸ™‚
Most of the times, they just stare at me like I’m an alien :p once someone actually asked me if everything was “alright” with me …. And I replied .. “Yeah, I’m just appreciating the book” πŸ˜‰ They just walked away, probably afraid that they would catch this strange disease πŸ™‚ hahaha

  2. Nice post!
Before my book obsession took hold, I collected old comics. These days, there’s a solid demand for the older, hard to find, expensive comics to be repackaged into volumes and sets. I have a buddy that collects them. He sends me notes and pictures when he gets new ones. I won’t do it. I can’t go there… why? The smell is missing. I need the old ink and musty paper. Same with books, I love the smell. I look for early editions and hardbacks of the authors I like, to “experience the book”. Another buddy bought an expensive old book. Large book too. Historical in content. He then told me he found a site to down load it so he could read it on his kindle or iPad. I said, “what the hell are you talking about? You’ve got the book! You need to experience the book, dude!”
    Ha! Cheers ~
PS – Why don’t you write a poem about the book experience you like so much, Fictionistasan? And post it too!

    1. I know! It’s so amazing! πŸ™‚ did you ask your friend to give you the book… Since he doesn’t want to experience it anyway πŸ˜‰

And Thanku for the idea… I’ll get right to it πŸ™‚
