Sentiments and Sentimentality

I’ve never been a person who appreciates exaggerated emotions, and trust me, it’s very difficult considering we thrive on emotions here. šŸ˜‰

Although expression of emotion is good, its exaggeration is extremely intolerable don’t you think? I guess it depends on your perception of “exaggeration”….

These are just a few quotes I found, these just seem very truthful and relatable to me.

Sentimentality, the ostentatious parading of excessive and spurious emotion, is the mark of dishonesty.”

“Sentimentality is the emotional promiscuity of those who have no sentiment.”

“Sentimentality is the only sentiment that rubs you the wrong way.

  1. Totally agree with you. An expression of emotion is confirmation that you have feelings, over expressing is an insult to my feelings. I admire men who are comfortable expressing feelings simply because most seem to have a problem in that area! As for dramatizing emotions …. the movies and tv do an excellent job, or is it simply poor acting? šŸ™‚
