TGI Sunday ;) : Marilyn Monroe

Here, in India, most of us don’t have holidays on Saturday. So Friday night partying is almost rare. Hence the title :p. I thought of talking about some famous personalities and how much influence they have had.

Hmmm, Marilyn Monroe! Every girl looks up to her, doesn’t she? :p How can someone be so elegant! Just look at her…whew!

Here are some of her quotes, that I just <3:

  1. “Just look at her …..whew” – Yes, Hollywood did an incredible job of marketing her; must also recognize the make-up dept, the hair dresser, the photographer, the print developer, the special effects dept. Did MM really say those profound things or was she scripted? Were they simply added later with/without her knowledge. I too admire MM, but must acknowledge that there was an industry behind her. To see MM in a vacuum, is to potentially have a very narrow view of the world. Racial discrimination and/or profiling are examples of seeing a culture in a vacuum.

    1. Hmmm πŸ™‚ she was a beautiful woman and I really appreciate it. πŸ™‚ and yes, there might be thousands of people to thank for, for her fame but I do not know them πŸ™‚ just like there are ppl working day and night for the country, and yet, the success or failure of a reform/programme is finally attributed to the Prime minister ( India) or in the case of america, the president.

      1. Absolutely agree however, not everybody understands the “details behind story”. i.e. We should consider presenting the whole picture. Wouldn’t it be nice if, while commenting on a delinquent leader, we could also acknowledge the more morally and ethically mature politicians? Some of my most unethical business contacts were English, but then so were some my most honest ones. Here (Canada) we have a pretty good multi-cultural society, but we also have a Govt who does not take global warning seriously, and is clearly supporting big business at the expense of the environment. Is Canada good or bad? It depends of course on your viewpoint but to take a single aspect of it can cause disillusionment. Thoughts?
